Meet Dana

I was lucky enough to be born to and raised on a beautiful ranch in Southwest Alberta. I grew up working and living a cowboy life. In high school I met my husband, CoBie, and we have been sweethearts ever since. With our 3 young daughters, we still help run the family ranch, with my Dad, brother and sister-in-law. We lost my mom to ovarian cancer in 2017.

For my 18th birthday, my mom bought me a serger. So I started dabbling in wild rags, because it was hard to find any big enough for cowboys and what we wanted on the ranch. Soon after, I started giving them as gifts to friends and family, with the occasional request for a wild rag or two. I have always, and still do, sew every Herr Wild Rag myself. I would be scared to count the number I have sewn to this point, but guess it must be in the thousands.

This past year, I started to branch out from just wild rags, to more of a brand. The first and most prominent collaboration was with Posh Panda, to create cowhair mocs, which had been in the works for almost 3 years. This year was finally the right time and they took off with more interest than either of us imagined. Both fashionable and functional, we continue to think up more styles and ways to bring great mocs to our customers.

My passion is designing and creating unique pieces. I hope the Herr Wild Rags brand will evoke confidence in whatever you feel like wearing. Because life is too short – be unapologetic of your style and what you love.
